We are located in Alberta, Canada, approximately 1 hour East of Edmonton.
Jack Russell's came into our lives 1994 with the purchase of a very incorrect male by the name of JR. JR was a short legged Jack Russell with a very large chest but the heart of gold. He was the one that got us started on this road to producing a great terrier that has the ability to work underground with correct conformation and excellent temperament. Our first correct Jack Russell entered into our lives in 1998. Devoncourt Trek was a great ambassador of the breed and his blood lines still run through my kennel with his daughter Suki, granddaughter Shelby and great granddaughters Sydney, Zara and Seven.
Our litters are carefully planned, producing puppies that make great companions, have the ability to be great working dogs and excel in the show ring.
All my terriers have gone through health testes to insure that we continue to produce puppies that are free of genetic defects. These tests include Baer testing which is done as a puppy. Baer testing insures that the puppy can hear. Cerf testing is done yearly, which detects any abnormalities in the eye. PLL ( Primary Lens Luxation) and SCA testing has been done on all of my original terriers.
I am very excited to announce that a genetic test is now available for Spinocerebellar Ataxia (SCA). Ataxia refers to a lack of normal coordination of movement. There are different types of Ataxia and we are referring to cerebellar Ataxia. Affected dogs might have drunken swaggering gait, and frequently have goose stepping of the front legs. They may move sell in a straight line, but stumble or fall when making fast turns, climbing stairs or catching a bass. A quick movement like shaking the head may produce a brief dizzy spell where the dog stiffens, falls and develops a rapid twitching of the eyes. So far all of the dogs tested at Reynard's Folly are Clear/ Normal for (SCA).
I am very excited to announce that a genetic test is now available for PLL. All of the terriers here at Reynard's Folly have been tested and all are Clear/ Normal. This is another invaluable test that we can do to make sure our breeding program is producing healthy puppies. When searching for your next family pet please ask the breeders if they are testing their breeding stock for this eye disease.
We are proud members of the JRTCC and the JRTCA.
